FC City A 2 – 1 Western United A
FC City B 1 – 4 Monash Promise Keepers
FC City Legends 3 – 0 Lilydale Golden Eagles
The Legends ventured out, in trying conditions to take on Lilydale in what turned out to be quiet a tough assignment. After getting knocked out of the cup, The Legends knew only 3 points would suffice in this fixture, with the pitch conditions making it all the more difficult.
The first half was tightly contested, with both teams trying to play an attacking game, but with the pitch engulfed in mud, it made it all the more difficult. Special credit must be given to Bean who commanded his penalty area well and despite numerous chances falling to the Legends, they were unable to open the scoring heading into the half time break.
As play resumed, a rejuvenated Legends team upped the ante and started to press and place Lilydale under more pressure at the back. A speculative shot from distance by Adam was parried away by the keeper inches from the goal line. This play saw an instinctive Huy follow up that shot to power home the opening goal before the keeper could collect himself. 1-0. The resulting replay link has been attached.
With The Legends’ their tails up and continuous attacking from their solid midfielders, the ball was played into Tim who set off on his trade mark mazy run to give himself the extra yard just inside the box to rifle a shot into the top corner. 2-0
The Legends continued their hard work in defense to ensure a clean sheet for their work, but they were not done yet. This time Kai gaining the ball in midfield danced his way pass two defenders who had the time and cheek to let his opponent know about it after he earlier tried to scythe him down. Kai continued his path onto goal and unleashed a wicked left foot which almost pierced the back of the net. 3-0
Overall the Legends can be proud of their performance as certainly it was a very grueling match under tough conditions.
